KALIMPONG Situated 4000 ft
above sea level in the beautiful hills of
Darjeeling which shares it’s border with Sikkim,
Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh all within a few
hours drive from here. to the North, Tibet /
China with whom Kalimpong had historic trade
relations as a Trade Hub during the Victorian
era.
Kalimpong is also the Floral Haven of India and
the home of World Famous Orchids and Cacti. Some
of the finest and the rarest specimens of Flora
and Fauna are found here, a visit to Kalimpong
is incomplete without visiting the Floral
Nurseries. The virgin forests and the un
chartered villages with the majestic Eastern
Himalayas as the back drop Kalimpong has always
been synonymous with Tourism. Kalimpong since
ages has been the epicenter of School level
education since 130 years ago and houses many of
Indias finest Schools.
The weather of Kalimpong which defines the word
Pleasant, perfect balance between the
extremities of Hot and Cold. Average summer
day temperature is round 28ºC to to 32ºC and
winter average is around 12ºC to 16ºC.
Kalimpong is accessible by road via National
Highway 31A from the present regional
Trade Capital of Siliguri which is just 2 hrs
drive away. Kalimpong can be reached by Air too
via Bagdogra Airport which is just 2½ hrs drive
and the nearest Railway Station being NJP also
2½ hrs away, which connects us with all
major cities in India. Kalimpong town has a
cross cultural entity with modern cosmopolitan
outlook, whereas the suburban villages have
retained its Culture and Heritage. Many a
glimpses of the reminiscence of the
British era can be seen here.
Round the year civic activities in Kalimpong
include Sporting activities like Football,
musical programme, Rock Shows and cultural
