ADMISSION PROCEDURE :
All prospective
students should comply with the admission
procedure :
1 ) Submit your
“Application Form” along with the “Medical
Certificate” ( Both available in Student's
hand book ) within the specified date at the
office along with the following :
a) One
set of photocopy of your educational
transcripts and other related documents if
any.
b) Two
copies of your recent passport size
photograph.
“Declaration Form” on
the last page of the Handbook is to be
submitted at the time of admission and not
along with the application form.
2 ) On receipt of
the application form GSIHM office will issue
you an “ Interview Intimation Card” giving
you the date, time and venue of interview.
4 ). Selection will
be made strictly on merit. Selection
procedure generally involves “Written Test,
“Group Discussion” and “Personal Interview”.
Or any other selection procedure adapted by
GSIHM according to the need, as demanded by
the prevailing situation. Regarding
selection, the decision of GSIHM Management
is final.
3 ). After the
interview is over. A list of selected
candidates will be put up in the institutes’
notice board and all selected candidates
will be intimated by an official acceptance
letter within one week from the date of
interview and the candidate desirous of
perusing the particular chosen programme
will have to secure admission by the paying
the stipulated fees within the specified
date failing which the seat will be offered
to wait listed candidates and there after
admission is subject to availability of
seats if any.
PAYMENT OF FEES
All the fees are to be
paid within the specified date as scheduled.
Exact fee structure is provided along with
the prospectus.
On payment of fees,
receipts will be issued by GSIHM which
should be preserved for future reference, if
required.
The fee includes
admission fee, tuition fees and lab
(practical) fee, exam fee, AH&LAEI. USA
Registration course material and exam fee
and the refundable caution deposit. It does
not include the “Hostel fee” and the monthly
“ Cafteria / Mess fee”.
Any fees once paid by
the applicant will not be refunded under any
circumstances except when the course is
cancelled or postponed by the management for
more than 60 days.
Any fee once paid by
the applicant cannot be transferred to any
other student.
All College Fees shall
be made by Cash or by Demand Draft favoring
“Kalimpong Good Shepherd Educational
Society” payable on SBI Bank Kalimpong
Branch or and can be sent along with a
letter addressed to the Director in the
College address. Fees can also be deposited
in our AXIS Bank Account. A/C No will be
told to you from office by phone, sms or
email
All Hostel Fee are to
be sent as advised by the Office. All
Payments received at the Institute &
Administrative Office will be acknowledged
by official receipts. GOOD SHEPHERD I.H.M.
has no agents in any of the Towns / Cities
to represent or collect any fee directly or
indirectly. The College will not be
responsible for payments made to such
people.
GIRLS HOSTEL RULE:
Limited Hostel
accommodation is provided for girls only.
The students have to give a written request
for accommodation arrangement. Management
reserves the right of allotment of various
categories of rooms of the hostel.
Additional Rules and Regulations regarding
hostel is available with the Hostel Warden.
Once admitted to the
Hostel the students need to stay for at
least a year, should the students for
whatever reason leave the Hostel in between
the year they will be charged for the entire
year irrespective of the tenure of stay. No
refund of hostel charges will be made after
enrolling oneself in the hostel.
However if the students
desire not to stay in the Hostel they will
be permitted. Students are not permitted to
stay alone by themselves for safety reasons.
If damage of any hostel
property occurs during the course of stay,
full or proportionate amount for the loss of
property will be recovered from the
student/s.
No society, association
or club shall be formed without the written
consent of the Hostel Warden.
Smoking Cigarettes,
Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages or using
any form of addictive drugs or substance
abuse is strictly prohibited. Students will
have to face DIRE CONSEQUENCE if found
indulging in such activities. Students may
even be expelled from the Hostel and
College.
GSIHM will not accept
any liability in respect of accident or
injury due to negligence in the part of the
student.
The Hostel authorities
will accept no responsibility for monetary
loss or loss of valuables suffered by a
student during his / her stay in the hostel.
Excess money or valuables if any are to be
handed over to the Warden for safe Keeping.
If any students
temporarily acquire any contagious diseases
and pose a danger of passing it on to other
students, the students will not be allowed
to attend classes in the college and will be
advised to go home. Parents are expected to
co-operate with us in this matter and look
at it in a larger perspective, keeping in
mind other students who might get affected.
Water is a very scarce
commodity in the Hills, students are
provided sufficient water for their daily
need, however the students are not permitted
to wash their clothes in the Hostel. Clothes
need to be given to the Dhobi for cleaning,
alternative arrangements for washing can
also be made.
All lights are to be
switched off and Taps to be closed before
leaving the hostel or going to bed.
After class the students need to be back in
the Hostel before dark.
Outing is permitted during Holidays and
Sundays from 10 am to 5pm.
Students are not permitted to stay the night
out with relatives and friends.
It is compulsory for
all Christian Girls to go to Church every
Sunday ( 11 am to 2pm ). Outing will be
granted accordingly.
REFUND :
Fees once paid is not
refundable under any circumstance .
Admission process is to be taken seriously
and not to be experimented with.
industrial Exposure
Training :
As apart of the Course
all students have to undergo Internship
programme for six months in reputed Hotels.
During the six months Industrial Exposure
Training students do not have to pay the
hostel fee ( if they are availing of the
same). All applicable fees are to be cleared
before proceeding for the I.E.T. Students
will have to make their own arrangements for
travel to and fro as well as accommodation
in the city where they have been deputed for
training. How ever necessary help will be
accorded for the same. During the training
period students are provided with on duty
meals, free of cost or at a subsidized rate
by the hotel. Generally a nominal monthly
stipend is also paid during the training
period. Misconduct during I.E.T. will lead
to expulsion from the hotel as well as the
institute. Students’ conduct, behavior and
discipline are expected to be at their
professional best. Problems, if any, should
be immediately reported to the College
authorities. Decision of GSIHM regarding
placement of trainees is final and biding on
all students. No request for change of
organization will be entertained. GSIHM will
not accept any liability in respect of any
accident or injury a student may sustain
during I.E.T. or during classroom training.
During the training
period students are exempted from paying the
“Hostel fee” as well as the monthly “Mess
fee” only. Other prescribed fees are to be
paid as scheduled.
UNIFORM / PROJECT KIT:
As formal uniform is
required for every course. Students are
required to purchase specified Uniforms/
Project kit for class room sessions and
various practical sessions in the Food
Production, F & B Service and House Keeping
and Front Office ( depending on the course )
Project kit and Uniforms are supplied on
payment only once at the time of
commencement of the course which is
inclusive of tailoring charges. New uniforms
need to be purchased before the commencement
of the 3rd year.
There is a precise
dress regulation for boys and girls. This is
to ensure regular hygienic standards among
the boys and girls. The same, as practiced
in the industry. GSIHM Management is very
particular about the uniform of the
students.
Students must come
fully prepared for both theoretical as well
as practical sessions in proper specified
uniforms only. Failing which the students
will not be permitted to attend the session.
All the students are required to maintain
Theory & Practical Note LOG BOOKS which are
supplied by the institute.

department they will be working in, unless
specified by the hotel in rare cases. Same
practical uniform of the College are
applicable in the industry. Practical
Uniform of all the four major departments
will be applicable.
COMPLETION OF COURSE :
Upon successful
completion of the course and before the
Degree / Diploma / Certificate is issued,
the following formalities are to be
fulfilled:
Students should have
successfully completed all the examination
Theory and Practical - Internal and
External.
Students should handover the Identity card
and Library Card.
Students have to request in writing for the
refund of Caution Deposit if any.
Students should clear all dues as well as
pay for the damage/s, if any, to the
equipment / s, book / s, etc. belonging to
GSIHM
The refund of Caution
Deposit if any will normally be in form of
A/C payee Cheque or Demand Draft after
deductions if any.
PLACEMENT SERVICES :
The GSIHM Placement
Cell headed by the Director will assist all
bonafide outgoing students who have
successfully completed the course in
securing suitable placement according to
their standards of expertise, in various
hospitality establishments all across India
and sometimes, even abroad. Students who do
not need this facility should intimate the
College in advance. Placement service is
provided free of cost and is only a genuine
assistance to secure employment and does not
automatically guarantees jobs. Placements
are also subject to students’ individual
achievement. It also depends upon the
prevailing market condition, country’s
economy and tourism scenario at that time.
The students cannot claim this service as a
matter of right. Students are also not
permitted to approach the Hotels directly
for employment or Training without the prior
permission of the Director. The College will
provide every support possible for
reasonable placements. All the students are
trained and prepared for the same. Employers
generally visit the college for( Campus
Interview) (as is the normal practice) or
sometimes invite the students over to the
organization for selection (Off Campus
Interview ). Travel and other arrangements
need to be made by the students. The aim and
objective of GSIHM is to obtain a 100%
placement record every year.
